Meet the Readhead team
Simone • Owner
Simone graduated from the University of Sydney with honours in 1993. She has worked in many practices both in Australia and the UK over the last 29 years.
She previously was founder and owner of Paw Prints Veterinary Clinic in Gwandalan which she sold in 2000. Since leaving PP she has worked in emergency, held veterinary director / manager roles in several practices, spent time in Nicaragua doing aid work and finally became a mum in 2019 to the very gorgeous and wild little Kody.
She obtained membership by examination to the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in small animal surgery in 2000 and completed a small animal surgical internship.
Simone’s interests lie in soft tissue surgery, emergency medicine and geriatric care! She values the mantra of growing old successfully (don’t we all!) and focuses on ways in which we can help our beloved pets do this. After all, age is not a disease! Additionally, Simone has a budding interest in feline medicine and rehabilitation and hopes to incorporate more individualised treatments in these areas as the practice grows.
Simone is super excited to be sharing this new journey with several nurses from her previous practice on the central coast as well as other team members whom she has met during her education and career. She considers her team a part of her family along with her partner Luke, Kody, 2 crazy rescue fur kids and Muz.
Kylie • Practice Manager
Kylie completed her certificate IV in veterinary nursing in 2005.
She is our go-to girl for equipment repair and maintenance. A qualified fear-free handler, she is passionate about patient care and welfare, especially for our feline friends. She has three rescue kitty cats – Spencer, Lulu and Mo – who she loves spoiling.
She has worked at clinics around the Hunter, Central Coast and UK.
Kylie also previously worked with Simone at Paw Prints Vet Clinic, Gwandalan.
Crystal • Veterinary Nurse
Crystal completed her Certificate 111 Vet Nursing, Animal Science Studies and Horse Industry Studies in 2001, followed by qualifications in Canine Myofunctional Therapy at College Of Traditional Medicine in 2007. (Canine myofunctional therapy and rehabilitation is a passion of hers which she can’t wait to further explore!)
Crystal then worked in veterinary practices as well as in boarding kennels and catteries for 12 years, caring for both large and small animals.
After spending the next 12 years in human health care, she has now returned to the veterinary nursing world.
Crystal has worked alongside greyhound racing authorities for physiotherapy and rehabilitation, and holds a reptile licence with experience in working with reptiles’ wildlife.
At home she tends to many geriatric animals – which are all adored! - and her two handsome human sons.
